Alex Halligey is a theatre-maker, performer, educator and arts-based urban researcher. She has an MA in performance studies from New York University, a PhD in drama and urban studies from the University of Cape Town and is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. Her artistic practice also ranges more broadly into solo and ensemble explorations around various themes. Alex has taught voice to performers for twenty years and with an increasing incorporation of Alexander Technique principles. Whether making performance works, studying cities or teaching students, Alex is invested in exploring how humans live in relation to space. She is currently a senior lecturer in the Interdisciplinary Arts and Culture Studies Department at Witwatersrand University.
