Whale Shark or: How To Disembowel the Ocean tells the story of Clark & Bohlale, two estranged former lovers trapped at the bottom of the ocean, inside the mouth of Meno, a 50 Foot Whale of an undiscovered species…

As the two find ways to escape their living prison, they are forced to reconcile with each other, and confront a past they both can’t untangle themselves from, whether on shore or land.

Originally written in 2020 as part of the Tsammu Playwrighting Programme, this modern dystopian romance was first read as a radio play by Khanyisile Zwane, Sydney Ndlovu & directed Lereko Rex Mfono. Whale Shark or: How To Disembowel the Ocean takes us through the trials of love, our decaying oceans, and the hope for redemption that may save us, and hopefully, each other.

SCRIPT TEASE offers productions (or writers) and audiences the opportunity to be in dialogue before work is put on the floor. Additionally, it offers audiences a window into various processes, as well as the chance to experience work that is otherwise difficult to mount. Readings are followed by a dialogue with the audience.
